App Store rating from 2 to 4.6 stars in two weeks

Challenge

Collecto provides shared night-taxi services across Brussels, operating from STIB (Brussels public transport) stops and serving thousands of riders each month. The service is a joint initiative between Taxi Verts and the Brussels-Capital Region, designed to offer affordable late-night transport.

The original Collecto app suffered from an outdated interface, limited features, and poor reliability, reflected in its 2-star App Store rating. Users frequently reported crashes, confusing navigation, and the lack of in-app payments, which forced cash-only transactions with drivers. The app was driving riders away from the service.

Demand was growing and the service's reputation was at stake. Taxi Verts needed a complete rebuild on a tight timeline.

Solution

We rebuilt the app from scratch with React Native and Expo, so a single codebase serves both iOS and Android.

The backend is a NestJS API. We integrated Adyen for secure in-app payments, so riders no longer have to pay the driver in cash. We met the two-week deadline with daily standups and short iteration cycles.
