We rebuilt the Collecto shared taxi app for Taxi Verts and the Brussels government in just two weeks. New design, in-app payments, and improved UX lifted the App Store rating from 2 to 4.6 stars.

Collecto provides shared night-taxi services across Brussels, operating from STIB (Brussels public transport) stops and serving thousands of riders each month. The service is a joint initiative between Taxi Verts and the Brussels-Capital Region, designed to offer affordable late-night transport.
The original Collecto app suffered from an outdated interface, limited features, and poor reliability, reflected in its 2-star App Store rating. Users frequently reported crashes, confusing navigation, and the lack of in-app payments, which forced cash-only transactions with drivers. The experience was pushing riders away from the service entirely.
With growing demand and a reputation to protect, Taxi Verts needed a complete rebuild, not a patch, delivered on an aggressive timeline.
The team rebuilt the application from scratch using React Native with Expo for cross-platform development, enabling a single codebase to serve both iOS and Android.
On the backend, NestJS provided a structured, scalable API layer. Adyen was integrated for secure in-app payments, eliminating the cash-only friction that had plagued the original experience. The aggressive two-week timeline was met through daily standups and tight iteration cycles.
